Forget Instagram’s most well-dressed stars or the style elite of Fashion Weeks worldwide, according to TikTok there’s one superior style leader who reigns supreme—the ‘Coastal Grandmother’. Think easy, luxe cashmeres, holiday-inspired accessories and a mix of breezy trousers. Lex Nicoleta, who went viral for sharing the trend on social media, summed it up perfectly: “Nancy Meyers-chic”. Nicoleta adds of the aesthetic, “it's Hamptons, it's 'my garden is bigger than your first apartment,' it's a light white sweater even though it's the middle of summer and it's a five-carat diamond ring passed down from your great-great grandmother."

Best emulated by the likes of Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give or Meryl Streep in It’s Complicated, the trend has seen something of a resurgence since those early 2000s films hit our screens, seeing Selena Gomez and Anne Hathaway both give it their seal of approval.

Wanting to try it out the trend for yourself? Here’s our edit of the Coastal Grandmother-inspired pieces to add to your wardrobe.
