For years, social media was solely flooded with sartorial inspiration that had us envying the most stylish people across the world and their wardrobes. In the years since, there’s undeniably been a shift into not just envying the likes of French It-girls like Camille Charrière or Scandi style stars like Emili Sindlev, but instead, looking to how they decorate and style their interiors too.
As we head into the New Year, many of us look to create a fresh and renewed mindset, and that is often all too reflected in the need to change up our office and home spaces to reflect that reinvigorated mindset.
If Pinterest’s new annual report for 2022 interior trends is anything to go by, this year we’re about to get a serious mood-boosting makeover.
If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that sometimes we need an escape from the realities of everyday life, and it looks like that’s exactly what will dictate one such decor trend in 2022. If Pinterest searches are anything to go by, this year “people will plan their great (indoor) escapes and designate rooms in their homes to decompress, vibe and rage.” Basically, creating rooms that are entirely themed to a hobby or passion, from crystals to music, books and more.
Considering how difficult, demanding and exhausting the past few months have been, we deserve to add a little luxury into even the most unassuming of places in our home, and that’s exactly what interior trend is set to dominate 2022. According to Pinterest, in 2022 people will be giving “luxurious makeovers to their home’s nooks and crannies,” turning forgotten spaces into show-stopping conversation starters.
“Design prediction for 2022: curve’s the word.” This year, prepare to ditch the traditional and make way for the waved wave of home décor, with curved designs becoming the go-to for just about any room in the home.
We always knew nostalgia was a big trend when it came to how we decorated our homes (Lava Lamps were all the craze last season), but this year decor is being taken even further back with searches for Ancient Greece more prevalent than ever, according to Pinterest. This year, people will take inspiration from Ancient Greece and invest in everything from Corinthian home décor to Aphrodite-inspired wallpaper. One of the youngest generations—Gen Z is embracing this ancient trend more than anybody,” Pinterest predicts.
Blame it on the eye-catching romances of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker and Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, but the goth-aissance is here to stay. From kitchen décor with a dark twist to deep velvets and skull-inspired creations.
“Cheque, please!” Just as they did last year, chequered designs are continuing to sweep just about every corner of our homes — from the kitchen to the bedroom to the lounge. This year, dive deep into the much-loved trend with funky flooring, tiled tables and chequered homewares.
