With a wealth of knowledge on the latest social media trends, an ‘unhealthy enthusiasm’ to succeed and a knack for strategising to drive both engagement and growth, Jessie Wright has forged herself as a talented and determined leader in the social space. Working alongside a range of diverse clients — from Northern Territory Tourism to Australia’s largest Craft Brewery — Wright eventually landed herself as Head of Social Media at Mecca, where she launched @MECCABeauty to Instagram, created the beauty giant’s vibrant Facebook community, MECCA Chit Chat, and lead the growth of the brand’s engaged TikTok.
Starting the next chapter of her career, the Melbourne-based creative and strategist has taken on a new challenge as the Head of Social Media Management at Chain Social, a digital-led marketing and creative agency amplifying the best of Australian beauty, fashion and lifestyle.
Here, Wright takes time out of her busy schedule to share a few of her favourite fashion, beauty and homeware staples — including a love of Diptyque scents to capsule pieces and cult finds.
Fashion Favourites
“Capsule wardrobes are trending on TikTok at the moment and that’s my wardrobe to a T. I don’t tend to jump on trends and am really focused on investing in classic pieces that I know I will wear time and time again. My wardrobe is a mix of oversized blazers, shirts, trousers, denim for the weekends and some beautiful leather pieces. I gravitate to neutral tones, and I love the simplicity of an all-black outfit.”
My go-to workwear formula is...
“In my role at Chain Social, I spend a lot of time meeting with our incredible clients so I’m always reaching for outfits that are effortless but stylish. Right now my go-to is an (Anine Bing) oversized blazer, (Bassike) split hem tights + oversized black tee (I find the best fit in the boy’s section at Uniqlo!). I used to have a work wardrobe and a weekend wardrobe but as I’ve gotten older they have slowly morphed into one.”

“I am really excited by winter shoe trends this year. I invested in the Prada loafers, which will bring a preppy edge to my wardrobe this winter. I’m also so excited to see the return of the calf boot. I’ve got some great pairs that I’ve collected over the years that I will be bringing out to play.”

“Sunday Riley’s Luna Oil is my most repurchased beauty item. I’ve been using this for 5+ years and my skin loves it. It’s an overnight oil and I wake up with the most glowy, bouncy skin!”
“My morning routine is all about hydration and I focus on products that allow me to wear little to no makeup. My goal is for my skin to look so healthy and happy that I don’t feel the need to cover it up. My evening skincare routine is a little more serious, I alternate active ingredients throughout the week. Always double cleanse and have set ‘masking nights’ and ‘rest nights’. I turned 30 this year and anti-aging is a top priority for me.”
Three makeup staples I can't live without...
“A lightweight concealer matched to my skin tone so I can pop it on bare skin and go! My go-to is the Kosas ‘Revealer Concealer.’ Cream blush (applied liberally!). The Mecca Cosmetica ‘Hydra Cheek Tint and Illuminating Balm Duo’ is my favourite as it’s also got a cream highlighter! Perfect for keeping in your handbag. I think I’ve made everyone I know buy this. A good tubular mascara. I use Kevyn Aucoin’s ‘Volume Mascara’. It’s the perfect level of lengthening and longevity."

The best beauty trick I've learnt...
“One day on set Jen Horsley (@jenhorsleymakeup) taught me how to tightline with eyeliner. And it changed how I do my everyday makeup look completely. I love a natural makeup look and tightlining gives my lash line definition while alleviating the pressure to master a wing liner in the morning rush. I use a chocolate brown liner to compliment my eye colour.”

“I’m a Diptyque girl through and through. I have 12 Diptyque candles in my living room alone (no judgement please). My favourite home scent is Ambre or Oranger.”
“I’m currently saving for my first home! And I am dreaming about decorating it. A new lounge is on my wishlist + bedside tables. I love the Muse II sofa by Sarah Ellison in ‘Dune’ and I am on (a never-ending hunt) for the perfect marble plinth for my bedside.
